Larger Programs

Hi Tom--

Your MFA handbook is so incredibly helpful. Thank you so much.

I was wondering if anyone out there had compiled a list specifically of large-ish MFA programs. All my dream schools are very small, and I am quite aware that my chances are better if they accept more applicants. I know of a few--Arizona State, for instance, is on the large side--and I've been weeding through the list in your book, but it's really hard sometimes to track down size of program on some of the school's websites. Any suggestions about how to find this info in a more efficient manner than, say, emailing every single department head would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Two things, Little Fish:

1. Though she doesn't list program size information, Anna Mendoza's Dozen Dozen site has all sorts of other helpful statistics and insights about MFA programs. Check it out. (Correction: I initially wrote that Anna's site did not list program length. In fact it does. Thanks Anna).

2. Larger programs that come to mind off the top of my head are Iowa, Massachusetts, Arizona. Arizona State, Michigan and I think (correct me if I'm wrong)... Florida State, Alabama, and Florida.

Any others that someone would like to add?

This is Anna. Actually, my site lists program length. It's the fourth field in each program.
