Sara Flannery Murphy, MFA Blog Contributor

Sara Flannery Murphy is the only one of her many siblings to be named after a literary figure. She couldn’t ignore this kind of hint. In May 2006, she graduated with a B.A. in English from University of Arkansas in Little Rock (she herself is a Southerner without the accent). Her first round of applying to MFA programs left her bruised, so, logically enough, she escaped to Canada and then returned home to shelve Juvenile Non-Fiction at the public library. After bravely applying a second time, Sara was accepted into the Writing Program at Washington University in St. Louis. She’s in the process of thinking about packing as you read these very words.

Sara is a self-diagnosed synesthete and fan of Shirley Jackson. Sara keeps a fledgling compendium of writing at Loser's Manual. Livejournal is the perfect Internet habitat for her, being rife with self-absorption and bright colors.
