I just found your blog. THANK GOD. you have answered 90% of all the questions I had. YAY!!! I am confused about the personal statment. What if you don't know the professors at a university you are applying to but the university is in a great location and has a good reputation, i.e. Brooklyn College (personal case)? Isn't it true you should reference a specific professor when writing your personal statement?
Thanks for the kind words, BiM, but no, I don't think you should reference the professors in your personal statement. Why not? Because if you reference two and not the 'other' two, then what are the 'other' two going to think when they read your statement? And, if you reference all of them, then you come across like a brown-noser.
Write about what you've done, why you're applying, and what you want to do. And best of luck, BiM.
