UCSD

Man, new programs are popping like corn around here. Tory sends us this email...

UCSD is apparently initiating an MFA Program in Creative Writing. I don't know any of the application details as there has not been much information put out, but a page exists here: http://literature.ucsd.edu/grad/mfawriting.html announcing the new program, which will apparently be taking applications this fall.

UCSD could have the potential of being a good program, especially for Southern CA. They already have Rae Armantrout, an important L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poet and the unique Sarah Shun-lien Bynum in fiction, and the undergraduate course offerings seem fairly comprehensive given the current lack of an MFA program.

I thought I should let you know about this, so you could announce it on the blog. Hope this interests you!

Looks as though there will be several new low-res programs, too. I've added those I know about (including programs at Converse College, Drew University, and Fairfield University) to the list of links I keep on my blog.

Tom,

It bears mentioning that, besides the terrific faculty, any student of new or experimental poetry at UCSD would also
have access to the Archive of New Poetry in the Mandeville Special Collections Library. A tremendous resource for any poet of that ilk: http://www.ucsd.edu/portal/site/Libraries/menuitem.346352c02aac0c82b9ba4310d34b01ca/?vgnextoid=d750834b06404110VgnVCM10000045b410acRCRD
