The previous "Where Are You Applying?" and "Where Are You Applying?" Part 2 are up over 200 comments now, so I'm starting another one to keep it reasonable. Please post where you are applying, which program (fiction, poetry, CNF, etc.) and if you've heard anything back yet (acceptances, rejections, waitlists, etc.)

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 256 of 256@Brenda do you know how Colorado State notified (phone/email)?
I applied in poetry to:
U Montana
U Washington
U Oregon
UC Irvine
Colorado State
UT Austin - Michener
Iowa
So far I've just received a rejection from UT via status check (no surprise there). I also just checked on my Oregon application and noticed that my app is incomplete because one of my transcripts never arrived; have tried to contact them to no avail, so that may be a lost cause, too.
@Bird and @Matt. any idea how they are doing things at purdue? i can't figure it out. seems like some rejections have gone out...everyone's status seems to look different on the login, argh... and so far i don't believe any waitlists have been reported here or on the fb group, but it's hard to keep track of. i'm still "under review," but figuring that the denial will arrive shortly.
@Bunny -- Not too sure, I'm afraid. All I know is that as of yesterday, when I logged into my application it showed this:
Submission Status: Submitted
Submitted Date: 12/17/2011 9:46:00 PM EST
Application denied
Then, I got an official e-mail at around 1 AM this morning.
If you haven't heard anything, I hope it works out -- good luck to you.
I don't know if many people on here are interested in MA programs, but I just got in to Miami U (Ohio) in fiction, via phone.
thanks @bird. i forgot to mention i'm fiction too, so who knows how things are different between the genres.
Applied for fiction at:
Wisconsin (rejected)
Michigan (rejected)
Florida (waitlisted)
Cornell
Iowa
JHU
The wait is killing me and I'm starting to wonder if I was a bit optimistic with my choices this year, but it's comforting to know so many other folks are dealing with the exact thing. Michigan's letter was really nice, and at least with the UFL waitlist it's not all bad news thus far.
Living in Germany carries the added benefit of a time difference - all my emails arrive in the evening here, which makes waiting for responses that much worse. I bet the contact people at all of the schools are getting dozens of freaked-out emails and phone calls right now...
By the way, I saw on another forum that Cornell has already sent out acceptance (it looks like), which means they're probably sorting stuff out with the waitlist and rejection crew.

I've applied to only two fiction programs (relocation is not an option for me):
UT Austin - Michener (rejection - natch)
UT Austin - English dept.
Anyone heard anything yet from the English Dept? I've checked the Research Project to see when/how many accepted, but there isn't much info.
@Colin BW
I hear you - I'm across the pond too and the time difference definitely adds to the tension! Can I ask when and how you heard about your UF waitlist spot?
My vital stats as they stand:
MCW - rejected via online status
UC Davis - acceptance via email
UC Irvine
UF Gainesville
Iowa
Could do with hearing from the last three soon so I can focus on being stoked about Davis...
I applied to UNC Wilmington, Hollins, Sarah Lawrence, and University of South Carolina — all for creative nonfiction.
Heard back from SCAD and was accepted. Does anyone know ANYTHING about SCAD's MFA Writing program? I am hearing such mixed reviews and am having a hard time locating reliable information online, other than the basics.
Thanks!
Three fiction acceptances at UT Austin English department on fbook MFA draft.
@BJH: Just found out earlier today via a fairly long email. Because of the Council of Graduate Schools' rule, they said it could take till April 15th for everything to get sorted out. Congrats on the Davis acceptance!
Denied at Michener this evening via online status check.
According to FB group, three people got calls from Columbia for CNF on Feb. 29 and 3-4 got calls from The New School for Fiction on March 1st. Some acceptances were also announced for UT-Austin (fiction) and UNCW (fiction).
Collin, this forum you're looking at is for English PhD, it looks like... the acceptance was for the english PhD program, not the creative writing MFA. So, we're still in the dark about the creative writing mfa... no word whatsoever yet... very strange... maybe they really haven't sent out acceptances yet... who knows.
Anyone know if oregon state is done with fiction notices?
And anyone know anything about Iowa State?
Does anyone know if fiction rejections or a waitlist have gone out for Alabama yet?
Just got into Emerson today!!!!!:D So happy! And yo, to y'all freaking out as if notifications are all done: Don't assume a thing. First of all, it's the internet. Who knows what kind of fake crap people might be posting up. And second of all, it's not over until your school rejects you and say it's over. So keep da faith! Stay strong! And really do hope y'all get into the school of you dreams!:)xxxxxx
@Colin BW
Thanks, man. Waitlist at UF is an achievement in itself. Hope it works out for you. I'm reading EDISTO at the moment and feeling envious of anyone who gets to work with Padget Powell.
@Pedro
Re: Cornell, in the Grad Cafe thread Colin linked to there's a post saying "If you haven't heard back from them yet, you did not get into the MFA program. They've already sent out acceptances." Make of that what you will! Hope it's not the case for the sake of those of you still waiting...
Anyone heard from Carbondale?
@BJH - Oh, I missed tat... well, it was a long shot anyway... but still, the guy just said it so matteroffactly... I mean, how does he know that? Is he sleeping with the English Department secretary? And why would he say something like that and provide no facts to back it up?
But this is just me being neurotic because it is pretty obvious by now that Cornell acceptances have gone out... it's just weird that we haven't heard from the aceptted people... maybe there were only two, as I thought there would be, and they don't have computers and live in caves.
I applied and was accepted to the UBC program! Third time applying - persistence pays off! Sending good vibes to everyone!
Just thought I would let any interested party know that I was notified via phone call yesterday (March 1) of acceptance to Columbia's CNF program.
From what I hear, it seems like if you apply enough to a program, you will eventually get in. Might do that with Columbia and give myself a few years to apply.
it seems like a wave of silence has washed over mfa-land on account of awp...
Just received a rejection via mail for Iowa (poetry). Dreams dashed.
"Three hundred and fifty-six people applied for twenty-five spaces."
Good luck everyone!
To those rejected/accepted by Iowa (Poetry) -- what does your ISIS status say when you go to "Admissions Profile"?
http://isis.uiowa.edu
Also -- I got into the U of O in poetry on Monday -- would any other admits be interested in chatting about the program?
@ anonymous--
I would! you can contact me at my fake email address, missannahan at gmail
Applied to:
Michener (rejected)
UMich (rejected)
Urbana Champaign (rejected)
Syracuse (rejected)
UT Austin MFA (Waitlist- email today 3/2)
Emerson (accepted- via status check today 3/2)
BU
Umass boston
UWash Seattle
Sarah Lawrence
UCI
Hollins
Has anyone heard from Uwash, BU, hollins??
got into Maryland today for fiction- via email.
so that's accepted: WVU, UMd
still waiting: UF, UVA, U New Orleans, and Johns Hopkins
Just received a phone call from Eastern Washington and am in for poetry. Also in at UIUC, which I had pretty much all but decided to attend, because that place sounds GREAT...problem is that my entire family lives in Washington and I would love to live there again. It was such a positive phone call, too; gave me a good feeling about the program. Am now completely torn...but feeling blessed as well.
It's official. I now join the ranks of 1000s and 1000s who have been rejected from Iowa.
I'm kind excited about it because it means I tried. So many friends told me it wasn't worth applying to because "no one" gets in so why bother.
I think all 1,000+ of us who got rejected from Iowa (Fiction) this year should give ourselves a pat on the back for...trying.
Regarding Cornell: I'm the one that posted the MFA bit in the grad cafe thread, but the acceptance that prompted me to make the comment was the one from here that was apparently a prank (see earlier in the thread). So Cornell is still open, though I would not be surprised if they really have sent out acceptances given the joint MFA/PhD program.
"The members of the fiction admissions committee have carefully reviewed your application, and I am sorry to report that we were unable to offer you a place in the Workshop... This year, one-thousand twenty people applied for twenty-five spaces...."
The University of Iowa
Realization/Reality: I should have gone to the track and bet it all on Sea Biscuit or a similarly named horse - I would have stood a much better chance of success.
To those who have heard back from Iowa: did all of the rejections come via the postal service? Did anyone receive an email instead?
2 rejections (Fiction)
-Wisconsin (email)
-Iowa (mail)
4 more to go. Sigh.
@thestage - that comment got everyone! Despite somewhat funny, it's a cruel prank man, if my friends had done that to me I would've been really pissed LOL. Anyway... I agree with you that even though Cornell is still open, the chances are that acceptances have gone out already and we just haven't heard anything about it. It's so weird though, right? I mean, Cornell normally notifies so early on in February and this is March already. But I think this week we'll hear something, even if it's a rejection.
Poetry
Accepted: University of North Texas
Rejected: University of Illinois
University of Wyoming
Who knows: Hunter College
Univ. New Orleans
San Francisco State
Columbia Chicago
University of Montana
Cornell
Ole' Miss
UNC Wilmington
I'm one of those reprehensible few who have applied to only one school :D I'm waiting to hear back from UNC Wilmington for poetry. I'm actually an undergrad there currently, and I love it so much that I want to continue. Feel free to ask me questions about our campus and CRW department; I'm happy to share whatever I can.
I gotta say, it's a little nerve-wracking to walk past the conference room wondering if the MFA committee is in there discussing applications.
Some professors are away at AWP, so it's possible that may delay decisions, but our able and amiable MFA coordinator is still here.
Good luck to all who have applied! I hope we'll be classmates in the fall.
I was wondering if the Madison acceptances have all gone out. Does anyone have a sense of that?
@kathleen: The Madison acceptances and waitlist notifications went out on Feb 23 or 24. I have a friend who was accepted.
Anyone applying for/waiting on Stegner?
Received a Iowa WW rejection via mail Saturday. Now, I join the rest of you who thought you saw "Seabiscuit" in the mirror!
(And you still might have, btw)
This is what we signed up for, I guess.
Any new word on JHopkins?
@itsBarbieBiatchhh :)

You got into Emerson? You actually qualified for a Master's Program? I hope you were drunk when you posted this. Otherwise that just makes me upset.
Stegner poetry acceptances have gone out (on the first). Anyone know about fiction?
@MarinaMu
I am an MFA applicant/aspirant from India.I too got waitlisted at Indiana fiction.have you heard anything from them yet?
@MarinaMu

Cal Institute of the Arts
UC Irvine
UC Riverside

San Diego State
UC San Diego
Georgia State
As somebody is older in their 30s, location is my #1 concern on this, particularly with an SO. As you might be able to discern from the list they are all warm big cities. Ones which I wouldn't mind living a few years and possibly networking and living there afterwards as well.
We'll see what happens.
I'm writing benyamin to paris and burning them in book
