I haven't heard anything either. But, there was an email sent to all the folks who submitted TA applications that said that they would be contacting only those in whom they were interested for interviews. I didn't get contacted so I'm figuring it's a "no," and that we may not hear from them. I have seen some offers go out from them, though.
Does anyone know what the story is with Georgia College and State? Are they done?
It seems that Florida State's Ph.D action has been pretty heavy. Any word on their MFA notifications? An e-mail went out a while ago stating that they'll be notifying throughout the month of March, and that to receive no rejection is to still be under consideration. Anybody have any news here?
I just received a call from the Fiction creative writing department of Columbia University this morning, I get accepted!!! Still thrilled now and can't believe it's true.....I thought I was rejected after waiting for so long....
@Yasmin I'm excited too! Congrats! I'm also waiting on my packet, but if I find anything else through whisper or holler, I'll let you know! Yay, New School! Maybe we'll be classmates, you and I!
A lot of you are asking about Wisconsin, I thought I would just say that all of their acceptances and waitlists have already gone out. Good to check their website but sorry, all decisions have been made.
Guys! Currently reading "It Chooses You" by Miranda July and it's truly inspiring for an aspiring writer and I'm only eight pages in. Very relevant. If you like her and haven't read it, you most certainly should!
Someone on the Facebook group has received a Hopkins fiction acceptance(email). I'm not sure if they all went out at once, but since there are only five slots, I'm trying to make peace with the fact that I probably didn't get in.
And @hales, that's unbelievably cool. Congrats to both of you! It works out especially well if you enjoy living together and want to continue doing so.
Yeah. Hopkins was my first choice; additionally, I'm from Baltimore County, and most of my best friends are moving into the neighborhood adjacent to campus this year. So it's a disappointment for me on a few different fronts.
But hell--I could have applied to a less competitive school in the area. When one of my recommenders told me my school list was competitive, I said, "If I don't go somewhere excellent, I don't want to go." I have one acceptance I'm quite happy with, but funding is pending (and necessary for me at this point).
I had a good feeling about Hopkins from the start. I really liked the juxtaposition of poets and doctors (a fan of Dannie Abse), the location in a strongly democratic, waterfront town, and the institutional heft JHU provides. The more I looked into their program, the better it got. Can't say I'm sorry for trying, and they haven't officially said "no" yet. Sometimes, though, it feels like waiting to not be asked to the prom.
@SnackAttack We're in the same boat there. When I say "trying to make peace with the fact that I probably didn't get in" above, you can read "still manically refreshing my email every two minutes."
Whatever response we each ultimately get, thanks for bringing some optimism to this board and thus to the whole process.
@unnameworthy, @snackattack glad I'm not the only one freaking out! Have other places to go--unlike when I applied to all super competitive places a few years ago and got completely rejected--but was super excited about Hopkins.
And @unnameworthy, who needs funding when you can have loans...groan.
Eating ghirardelli dark chocolate chips for consolation.
Sometimes it feels good to do something--anything--during a time we feel so out of control of our own destinies. I made a top ten list of reasons to let me in and sent it to the admin coordinator in the Midwest. She said thank you and that she enjoyed it. Made my morning.
@Alex Mack, yes, Yvonne has been extremely responsive and I appreciate it very much.
And I make my living doing content marketing and blogging for companies at the moment. A tad more interesting than grant writing because it's at least public facing, but it's how I'm planning on funding my MFA. It's selling yourself and talking about money that can be difficult.
Alex is right. Just finished a grant for a middle school. It is rewarding, and kind of geeky fun if you like organizing and thesaurus-izing (how many different ways can you say "We need money"?).
Would not apply to Brown again. I applied early before learning enough about the program to make a sound decision. The faculty and I are from different galaxies.
Would not apply to Michener again. Really have no interest in moving to TX, even Austin, even for free.
Would consider Butler if funding improved and Minnesota.
I hope you get into OSU next year. Everyone always talks about Eugene, but I find Corvallis less pretentious, more laid-back.
@K- I haven't been notified yet by Indiana but I could have sworn I saw someone post there was an acceptance. Maybe I was going crazy and thought I saw it.
Thank you @Elsa and @bad boy bento! I wish you all the best! This blog really saves me from freaking out before the news come out, so many young talented writers looking forward to their possible future directions. It's really sweet to find a union here: )
If you haven't heard from McNeese, you didn't get into the program. I called John Griswold. He finally returned my call. All acceptances have been sent and people have accepted and filled any open positions.

Thanks, anotherwriter! It might make me happy :)
All Stegner acceptances have gone out and all the new Stegners have accepted. Those who haven't received word should receive word shortly.
@Techumseh and others interested in Mason news:

Any news at all on Boise? Fiction. Anyone else waiting to hear back?
Thank you!

@Yang - congrats!
@Yang Congrats! That's AWESOME!
@Jason and Megan
Congrats on NWP! I applied there too but haven't heard anything. When/ how did you hear? I wonder if they're done making acceptances.
Just received an acceptance call from Wichita with full tuition remission and a GTA offer.

Mark Bibbins just called me. Holy Hell. My roommate and I were both accepted to The New School for Poetry! pretty crazy we were both accepted.
Apparently Hopkins Fiction is notifying today. Anyone hear yet? Anyone else feeling neurotic?

@unnameworthy, bummer, was still holding out hope against hope

I'm still trying on shoes...

Congrats to all the acceptances out there!
For me:
Rejections:
UMass Boston
UMass Amherst
NYU
Indiana [presumed]
Haven't heard from yet:
Wichita
Roosevelt
Mills
San Diego State University
Butler
Brooklyn
Boston University
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Man, I must be more attached to this JHU outcome than I thought, because your words just made me a little wet in the eyeballs.
Ok, need to find and post my favorite Waters' quote now:
"Some call me director, producer, filmmaker. I prefer to call myself pube-king."

And refreshing email every two minutes. Still.
Trader Joe's bittersweet here! We're Snack Twins!
@SnackAttack gotta have chocolate
JHU also has the best administrative coordinator's name, hands down. "Yvonne Gobble" may well be my next heroine.
@SnackAttack I have been emailing that poor woman practically daily this week!
@SnackAttack, not sure if the emailing helped or hurt my fragile psyche. Probably hurt.
Sometimes it feels good to do something--anything--during a time we feel so out of control of our own destinies. I made a top ten list of reasons to let me in and sent it to the admin coordinator in the Midwest. She said thank you and that she enjoyed it. Made my morning.
Thank you, Alex! JHU and Purdue have been the most polite and helpful of all schools I applied to.
I forget, did you get waitlisted at Corvallis?
@Alex Mack, yes, Yvonne has been extremely responsive and I appreciate it very much.
And I make my living doing content marketing and blogging for companies at the moment. A tad more interesting than grant writing because it's at least public facing, but it's how I'm planning on funding my MFA. It's selling yourself and talking about money that can be difficult.
@Alex Mack, and good luck to you!
@SnackAttack you should post your list here (:

Tracy, here's two that might make sense. It's pretty Indiana-specific.
1. I know all the words to the fight song.
2. When asked if Axel Rose is from here, I say Nope. Wisconsin.
:^)
@SnackAttack Obviously knowing where Axel Rose is from should be an admissions requirement (:
Totally. He is from Indiana, but Wisconsin can have him. Good clean Big Ten rivalry fun.
I'm outta chips!
@Dani and everyone else.
Is Indiana done notifying? I thought there would be more action on the blog when those acceptances went out.
@Chelsea Johnson I heard from Greg Spatz at Eastern Washington last week (March 4) — accepted, fiction. Crossing my fingers for you!
@K- I haven't been notified yet by Indiana but I could have sworn I saw someone post there was an acceptance. Maybe I was going crazy and thought I saw it.
New School packet came in. Offering me 25% tuition on some merit scholarship thingy. Not perfect but better than I expected!
@K - who are you communicating with? I sent my reply to the general email that the wait list note came from and so far nada...
Hi Lauren!
How/when did you hear from U Florida?
@Molly
Why do you think that UVA fiction notifications will be a long wait?
Thank you @Elsa and @bad boy bento! I wish you all the best! This blog really saves me from freaking out before the news come out, so many young talented writers looking forward to their possible future directions. It's really sweet to find a union here: )
Hi Unknown,
I emailed the program to notify them of another acceptance and Barbara Moriarty told me that notifications wouldn't be going out until March 25.
Has anyone been contacted by wisconsin-madison yet? Anyone at all?
If you haven't heard from McNeese, you didn't get into the program. I called John Griswold. He finally returned my call. All acceptances have been sent and people have accepted and filled any open positions.
Interesting post! Thanks for sharing.
