I know that there are fewer nonfiction programs than fiction and poetry. I've familiarized myself with most of the better programs that have nonfiction, but I'm trying to expand my list. Do you know of any programs that, while not being explicitly nonfiction, tolerate/encourage nonfiction writing from their students? What about, say, journalism programs that tolerate/encourage more literary work?
I'm looking for an inexpensive/well-funded school in a place with a decent art scene. My significant other is an artist, just finishing his MFA from a fancy program, and he kind of needs to live somewhere he can ride that momentum.
L, I've listed a number of the nonfiction programs in the previous post. The answer to your question is contingent on a fiction or poetry professor's parallel interest in nonfiction. I don't know of any off the top of my head, but maybe our readers do. Anyone?
